Bumper Sticker Design Tips
Customizing vinyl bumper stickers has become a popular way for individuals to express themselves, clubs and schools to show pride, for businesses such as bars and tourist spots to generate low-overhead sources of revenue or offer free promotional materials. There are, however, a few things to keep in mind.
Customizing vinyl bumper stickers has become a popular way for individuals to express themselves, clubs and schools to show pride, for businesses such as bars and tourist spots to generate low-overhead sources of revenue or offer free promotional materials. There are, however, a few things to keep in mind.
- Resolution.If your artwork is rasterized, high resolution (300 dpi) is ideal for crisp clear results. All of the artwork offered in our clip art gallery meets these requirements. However if you are uploading your own, this is important to keep in mind.
- Size. Our bumper sticker sizes are comparable to standard sizes you's expect to see on the road. Consider how much text you commonly see while driving and how close you have to be to read it! Large, clear, contrasting words work best.
Tip: If you're supplying your own graphics and/or backgrounds upload LARGE images! At one inch printed at 300dpi, an image needs to be at least 300 pixels wide to print clearly. We get a lot of "thumbnail" art uploaded to the designer and have to contact customers for larger art, which causes production delay.
- Colors. Although we can happily print any amount of color you desire with near photographic capabilities on our vinyl stickers, we recommend keeping it simple. A plain color background underneath a contrasting design reads best.
- Fonts. Font choice is very important. If you choose to use text, please be cautious of the font you choose. Please make sure it is clear and well spread out. For legibility, sans serif and all caps sometimes work best.
- Print area. Please keep in mind that when you are making your design on the online designer, the actual imprint area is not what you are seeing on your monitor. Design within the guidelines with the exception of uploaded background images, which may work best allowing "bleed room" outside the design by 1/8 inch.
- About Vinyl. We print on quality, thick stock vinyl that bonds tightly to your vehicle. While it is made to endure, wear depends on amount environmental conditions. Wash and thoroughly dry the area the sticker is to go over.
- Content. As with all our customizable products, we'll print nearly everything unless it promotes illegal behavior, hate, or displays pornographic material. When supplying your own design and content, you are 100% liable for the product's use.
